Mackenzie O'Brien is a singer songwriter from the Chicago area who travels regularly to Nashville to write, record, and perform. Mackenzie was a melancholic child nicknamed "Hummingbird" as she could could often be found playing alone while humming made up melodies. She was also a child without direction when music found her at the age of 14. She would say it unlocked her brain and this journey was started. In her short three year career she has performed over 300 times and has landed 20 original songs on small market radio in US cities as well as stations in England, Scotland, and Ireland. Mackenzie performs in a genre somewhere between country and indie and writes what comes to her rather than let a genre or brand define her. In 2019 Mackenzie's hard work was rewarded when she received a grant from the endowment for the arts to help her with her latest recording project. Mackenzie rolled out her own band in 2019 and looks forward to expanding their reach on the performance circuit.
